Is This AI Tool Better Than ChatGPT?

artificial intelligence Jan 13, 2025

A local insurance brokerage recently hired me to teach a workshop for their team of 30.

They wanted to learn how they could use AI in their day-to-day work to close more policies and provide better service.

I normally teach people how to use ChatGPT. But... they use Microsoft.

For those of you who don't know, Microsoft has its own AI tool called Co-Pilot. It's kinda like "ChatGPT for Microsoft."

Before the presentation, I played around with Co-Pilot and realized it does pretty much everything ChatGPT does. They both:

  • Use prompts to create responses
  • Have a log of all your previous conversations
  • Become more personalized the more you use them
  • Create images
  • And so much more

In fact, they’re so similar that if we did a blind test, I bet you 99% of people—including me—wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

So Why Would Anyone Use Co-Pilot if ChatGPT is Already Out?

Two words: Seamless Integration.

Here’s What I Mean by That

Most people start using AI with ChatGPT. The only problem is, ChatGPT doesn’t connect to any other tools. You constantly have to copy whatever you generate in ChatGPT and paste it elsewhere.

But if you’re someone who already uses Microsoft Office—Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.—Co-Pilot is built-in.

  • Writing an email in Outlook? Co-Pilot can generate it.
  • Creating a seminar in PowerPoint? Co-Pilot can create images or text for the slides.

And the coolest feature that separates Co-Pilot from ChatGPT?

It can use all your emails, Word docs, PowerPoints, etc., to train itself and become more personalized. Whenever you’re working within Microsoft Office, Co-Pilot is just one click away.

In contrast, to use ChatGPT, you have to go to its website or app. Co-Pilot, on the other hand, comes to you. It’s like having a personal assistant that works with you 24/7.

Is It Worth Switching to Co-Pilot?

No. Unless you’re already using Microsoft Office, it isn’t worth it.

But if you are? It could be a game changer.

For me, I use Google’s suite of tools to run my business. Google has an AI tool called Gemini, which is kinda like their version of ChatGPT.

I think in the future, it could end up leading the pack—but that’s a newsletter for another day.

In the meantime, let me know: Have you ever tried an AI tool outside of ChatGPT?

If so, what was your experience? Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear them!
